Recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis

Last Updated: August 10, 2010

As a 6-year former sufferer of bacterial vaginosis I can tell you that without a doubt the single most frustrating characteristic of BV is no matter what you seem do about it, it keeps coming back! Recent studies estimate that over 80% of women treated for BV will have re-infection in less than a year (see proof here.) Many of those women will actually suffer from re-infection within a couple months.

There are several reasons for the high rate of recurring bacterial vaginosis and I will provide an overview on this page...

FlagylFirst, the most common treatment for bacterial vaginosis is an antibiotic called Flagyl (it goes by different names in different countries but it's called Flagyl is Canada and the United States.)

BV is caused by an imbalance in normal bacterial level in the vagina and drugs like Flagyl are designed to destroy the "bad" bacteria.

The problem with this kind of treatment is that it does not address the cause of the problem, it only addresses the symptoms. Although the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis can subside for a short while when using antibiotic treatments such as Flagyl, there is a very high rate of re-infection.

Why Does Bacterial Vaginosis Keep Coming Back?

The primary reason for chronic bacterial vaginosis is because most women fail to address the reasons why they are getting bacterial vaginosis. Most women do not understand what causes it and therefore do not know how to avoid it.

Personally, I suffered from about 6 years from recurring bacterial vaginosis infections. I tried many of the traditional treatments over the years but nothing really gave me permanent relief.

After doing a heck of a lot of research, I discovered a 4-step method to treat bacterial vaginosis infections (especially recurring BV infections).

In order to overcome this embarrassing and frustrating condition, it is often not enough to take antibiotics like Flagyl because you're still not treating the causes of BV. To achieve permanent relief from the symptoms of BV, you must accomplish the following steps

  1. Eliminate the bad bacteria
  2. Increase the good bacteria
  3. Boost your immune system so that your body has the fuel it needs to keep the bad bacteria from overwhelming the good.
  4. Avoid re-infection with some simple, but not-so-well-known lifestyle changes.

Steps 3 and 4 are very important for avoiding recurrent bacterial vaginosis! These steps are not to be ignored if you want permanent relief.

I created this website to help women resolve an issue that I had to go through for years and I wrote everything you need to know in a 65-page book called "The BV Miracle" that can be downloaded instantaneously to your home computer.

The BV Miracle walks you through the same steps I used to overcome chronic bacterial vaginosis. For more information about The BV Miracle, please see our main page on Bacterial Vaginosis Treatment.
